Immaculate Heart Academy extended its winning streak to 21 straight on May 18, as the Eagles broke open a close game in the fourth inning to defeat Ramapo, 10-0, in Washington Township.
Sarah Siclari, a senior, spun a one hitter for IHA’s sixth straight shutout and 12th of the season.
Siclari was also honored, along with several teammates, on Senior Day. Once again, the IHA parents did a great job in putting together a post-game celebration, complete with sushi, various sandwiches, cookies, cupcakes and soft drinks.
IHA (22-1) is in the midst of a busy week. It will travel to Ivy Hill Park on May 19, to face Newark Academy for its fourth game in the last four days. After a day off on Friday, the Eagles will play in the Bergen County Tournament semifinals on May 21, against Dumont. A win there will put IHA in the finals, again, opposite the Indian Hills-Northern Highlands winner, on May 22.
The Eagles will then have some time off, as it won’t begin play in the Non-Public A state tournament until after Memorial Day weekend. Head coach Diana Fasano was hoping to get a few games scheduled next week, to keep her team sharp.
The biggest part of the season is now here, but on Senior Day, it was also a time to enjoy family, friends and teammates.
