The annual Immaculate Heart Academy Softball Tournament has changed its moniker this year, but the true meaning behind the two-day tourney remains vibrant.
Thanks to the IHA parents and community, a beautiful banner has been created to announce this year’s event, which will be held on April 9 and April 10, on the campus of IHA, in Westwood.
Here are the schedule of games, thanks to head coach Diana Fasano.
Games on Saturday, April 9:
IHA VS. MOORE CATHOLIC (NY) at 9 a.m.
SADDLE BROOK VS. RARITAN at 11 a.m.
ST. JOSEPH (CT) VS. NOTRE DAME at 1 p.m.
BUTLER VS. NOTRE DAME at 3 p.m.
Games on Sunday, April 10:
IHA VS. IMMACULATA at 9 a.m.
ST. JOHN VIANNEY VS. ROBBINSVILLE at 11 a.m.
CARAVEL ACADEMY (DE) VS. WEST ESSEX at 1 p.m.
NEWARK ACADEMY VS. JEFFERSON at 3 p.m.
The late Anthony LaRezza ran the tournament with a certain precision for 10 years. Now, the tourney will bear his name, and those who were influenced by him, will continue that brand of excellence.
We’ll have much more on the Anthony LaRezza Invitational at IHA, all week, leading to the games themselves on the weekend. In the meantime, here is the banner that will greet the fans as they enter the IHA softball facility.
Kevin Kenerson, whose daughter, Taylor, plays shortstop for the Eagles, commented on the design.
“This is the banner we put together for a GREAT Coach, Mentor and Friend,” said Kenerson.
