A great upcoming flight: D.C. to Disney !!!

Nutley’s Deanna Cafone has long been a fan of the empire that is Disney World.

And now the 20-year-old Cafone will soon enjoy a rare opportunity to work, and study, at the ‘Happiest Place on Earth.’

Cafone (I call her D.C.) has been accepted to the Disney College Program, a paid internship, and will leave for Orlando in January for the spring semester. While there, she will learn the intricacies of the Disney dynasty, According to the program’s website, ‘Our education program is designed to give participants a comprehensive, experiential-learning opportunity which will provide them an unparalleled enhancement to their academic and professional careers. Participants in Disney’s Internships & Programs will be able to design a learning experience which will shape their program experience into an opportunity that specifically suits their needs and interests.’

Needless to say, Cafone is ecstatic about the upcoming opportunity.

“I’ve loved Disney since I was a kid,” Cafone said. “I couldn’t believe it when I got the E-mail saying I was accepted into the program. Now, I’ll be living in the park and learning the business. I’ll be getting college credits, as well. I can’t wait.”

Cafone, a 2011 graduate of Nutley High School, is currently at student at Essex County College. A rabid sports fan, (especially wrestling), her high-energy persona and work ethic will make her a natural for this new challenge. She went through a couple of rounds of intense interviews before being accepted.

“I’ll be there from January through May,” Cafone said. “I’m the first in my family to go away this long, so I know my parents will worry, but they know it’s a great opportunity for me and they’re thrilled.”

It’s been a big week for Cafone, who became an aunt for the second time when her older sister, Nicole, gave birth to a healthy boy, Vincent Salvatore Boyce, on Sept. 21.

“It’s been a special week,” Cafone said. “I couldn’t be happier.”

And before she leaves, Cafone will audition in October to possibly be a Disney character.

“How treat would that be?” the affable Cafone said.
